DID YOU KNOW...

1,500 babies are born at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center every year!

  • 90% of brain development happens by age 3.
  • Children who are read to from an early age start school with 30 million more words in their vocabulary.
  • Literacy development begins at birth and is closely linked to a baby’s  earliest experiences with books and stories.
  • Babies learn language through social literacy experiences - parents and caregivers interacting with them using books.
  • Babies and toddlers are learning the basics by listening to your voice, soaking up the language, focusing on the pictures, or just learning how to turn pages.
  • These experiences also serve to associate books with parental affection, attention, and approval.  (American Library Association)
  • It's important to have lots of books around the house, but especially important to have ones that will grab your baby's attention.

That's why The Cedar Park Public Library Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity corporation is committed to providing a literacy pack to the family of every baby born at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center.
